We are proud to be able to offer the widest range of regenerative medicine modalities ever available to the horse.
We have for many years been at forefront of using the horse to heal itself, a field that is now known as regenerative medicine.
We have offered platelet rich plasma and have upgraded our systems to always offer the best and most efficacious treatments to where we are now with our Harvest smart PRP system. This is our first line of treatment for moderate tendon or ligament damage where a core lesion (hole) exists.
We were early adopters of IRAP and offer the newer forms of this including Arthrex autologous conditioned serum system and the very exciting Goldic ( gold induced cytokines) both of which have rescued previously incurable arthritic joints.
Relatively new to our stable is BMAC or bone marrow aspirate concentrate which is a readily available source of stem cells and cytokines and is superior to anything at present for giving severe tendon lesions a chance of effective recovery.
Most excitingly we have been allowed to be early adopters of the joint medication revolution that is Arti-cell. This is actually a revolutionary product as it is the first time allogenic stem cells are commercially available for any species and first time they have been targeted to a specific tissue. What this means is that for the first time we can get equine progenitor cells isolated and grown up from especially selected low immune response generating donor horses induced and proven to initiate successful cartilage repair in the horse.
This has been the holy grail of arthritis medicine as never before have we been able to get true repair of articular cartilage. The best we could hope for was to tidy up the damage surgically or limit the inflammation medically and hope the damaged areas got covered over with stiff scar cartilage. Now for the first time we are able to offer the horse with cartilage damage the chance to actually repair the damaged articular cartilage.
However this does require us to identify the exact joint involved in the lameness and at a stage that there is not already bone and/or ligament pathology also.
